Andy Murray has decided to take the advice proffered by his coach, family, wife and multitude of fans and come on. He says that he has now realised that despite being in the world top four for many years and winning several Grand Slams, coming on may be what he needs to push him to even greater heights.
‘I’m a typical stubborn Scot [INSERT OWN VERSION OF 'THE JOKE' HERE],’ Murray said. ‘For years, I thought, no, stuff you, I’ve got natural talent, I’ve trained and dedicated my life to tennis, why should I come on just because some posh strawberry-neckers shout it at me? But then I saw how well Roger Federer did when he was urged to come on, I thought it must be worth a try.’
Added Tim Henman: ‘Being a polite English boy, I came on from the word go. Much fucking good it ever did me.’
